As if the whole farce of Kangaroo-court “Human Rights” tribunals wasn’t bad enough, now the Canadian Federal government is trying to push through a new bill that would effectively criminalize the sale and manufacture of vitamins, dietary supplements and natural herbal products. The bill C-51 would classify natural products as controlled substances, and empower inspectors to:
• Raid your home or business without a warrant
• Seize your bank accounts
• Levy fines up to $5 million and a jail terms up to 2 years for merely selling a herb
• Confiscate your property, then charge you storage fees for the expense involved in storing all the products they stole from you.
C-51 is based on the same kind of creepy paternalism that’s always been a feature of the Canadian ideological landscape: the assumption that the need to protect citizens from their own stupidity overrides any considerations of individual liberties (which are only conditionally granted by the state in the first place)
This probably ties in to the anti-supplements/vitamin fear campaign that I’ve been seeing in the press lately. Big Pharmaceutical companies have been trying to criminalize homeopathy and natural products for years now, and Canada seems determined to provide them with a nice fresh doormat to wipe their feet on.

So I was out walking today, going to lunch I think, and something hit me on the head. It was a piece of the sky!
No lie!
Well you can thank your precious Stephen Harper for that one too! Conservatives HATE sky.
FUCK Stephen Harper and his conservative government…he’s almost as bad as Bush…ahhh
Amen to that. It’s going to take a lot more than a couple of piddling little 1% tax cuts here and there to lure us back to Canada. Especially when those nominal tax cuts are promptly replaced by an even higher bullshit ” carbon tax” . ARRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!. I’m thinking of renaming this blog “Pissed of Canadian Expats”
Canada = Worst Country In The World
uhmmm no i think you;re wrong there Alec….. how about the country where I live right now? i think THAT could be called the “worst country in the world” hehe..except for its awesome film/fx/animation industry that is….hehe
Citizens of countries with the most to lose SHOULD bitch the loudest and that includes expats too. It’s a duty, one that Canadians could do to practice more often.
Bitching doesn’t do a whole lot unless it manifests itself in votes. Look at the UK. They probably complain more than anyone in the world, but all they do it vote Labour.
Besides, Harper can only do so much with a minority government to try and reverse over 30 years of indoctrinated socialism. Any kind of tax cut is nearly a miracle. Not that it’s been perfect.
If you think Canada’s or BC’s carbon tax is bad, California’s should be nearly on par and the Dems are trying to get the EPA to regulate carbon emissions. If they get into the White House it should be AWESOME for business!
Voting with your feet is also a time-honored method of affecting change. As to the carbon tax, clearly the only way to save the earth is to hamstring business, thereby striking capitalism, the real root of all environmental evils, a deadly blow. Remember though, that capitalism and business are GOOD when practiced by totalitarian police states, which we cheer on as the “next superpower”.
